AccPM Poll Results: How Did You Learn To Be A Product Manager?

[poll id=”3″]

The question this past week was “How Did You Learn To Be A Product Manager?” and the winner of this poll was no surprise (to me). It turns out that most of us have really had no formal training to be product managers — we seem to accidentally “fall” into the position.

What did catch my eye is that it sure looks like outside training programs are where a lot of us are getting our introduction to what product management is — not internal company formal processes. I found this to be somewhat surprising considering just how customized product management is to each company’s way of doing business.

Thanks to all who participated!

This week we’re going to see if we can get a snapshot of what industry The Accidental Product Manager’s readers work in. The question this time out is:

What industry is your product designed for?

Visit the blog, vote, and we’ll talk about the results next week!
